what's the use in crying about it? who'd want to swim in your river of tears? pack it up we're settin' up camp somewhere else staring at the shadows tooooooo long made you forget WHERE THE LIGHT COMES FROM you sleep all day and then you wonder how the night could seem so long ooooooo ooooooo it's just a matter of time it's just a test of your will and i'll be damned if you just lay down and die and i'll be damned if you don't just open your eyes and we'll all be damned for what it's worth if you don't just try
2.
one more night that i can't get to sleep apologies for sounding bleak crack the window so that i can breath the fresh air silence seems like a virtue in small rooms with walls that bounce my loud thoughts off me reflecting inaccurately coaxing a drunk and a gambler into a two year plan pointing a gaunt finger up with a heart like a tin can trying not feel pain was a naive choice made in vain when you've got nothing to lose nor to gain fleeting feelings of bliss become lost in this endless abyss of clarity and resolve
3.
things come and things go people come and people go you come and you go i know it to be so things come and things go people come and people go you come and you go or so i'm told how could we ever know? how come i wasn't told? where they all go where'd they all go? where did they all go? i've been dreaming of my old friends all my old friends i'll see them again
4.
Interlude 1 01:33
*ethereal whooshing*
5.
Daydreaming 02:21
traveling towards fulfillment of your compulsive wish daydreams about daydreaming scratch that existential itch there's a voice in the back of your head that agrees with the things that you read
6.
Paris, NY 01:58
movie soundtrack in my ears diegetic sound from a protest crowd i wish that i had learned the language so i'd be able to understand them shout it doesn't matter where i go, there are always people who look like people i used to know the cigarette smoke smells the same from outside the Louvre to your childhood neighbor's home there are always people who look like people i used to know
7.
when i saw you pick up the change i know that i had to do the same attempting attentiveness through tired eyes 3am at an empty bus stop we gave thanks for the time we got which you reluctantly described as bittersweet
8.
Interlude 2 00:46
*ethereal whooshing intensifies*
9.
i saw a picture from Christmas last year and the memories flowed in from the same part of my brain i had a dream about you with i'd like to keep that treasure chest safe never fading or collecting dust so when i feel like i have nothing left i can still at least remind myself you will live forever in my head
10.
Heights 03:08
even though i'm afraid of heights the balcony here looks pretty nice so i climb through the window with a glass of red wine i watch people walk i listen to the wind and the cars i feel the cold, dry air on my face and i think, i should really get to sleep
